Activity Days 2024

First of all we would like to thank everyone for your positive support for our annual Activities Days.  All of the arrangements are now in place and we are now hoping for pleasant weather so that our pupils and staff can enjoy two days of fun, challenging and enjoyable, safe experiences.

On both of these days we are expecting a large number of coaches at the start and end of the day. If your child travels to school by car we would politely request that you do not block access to or from the car park.

Hyde Days Out Schedule

Trip Coaches Depart Estimated Arrival Back at School
Blackpool Pleasure Beach 9.30am 5.30pm
Chester Zoo 9.00am 4.00pm
The Crocky Trail** 9.00am 4.00pm
Heaton Park 9.30am 2.30pm

We will provide packed lunches for all those pupils who are eligible for free school meals and have requested them. These packed lunches will be available for pupils to collect from the front of the social dining area on the morning of their trip.

*Important Note - Blackpool Pleasure Beach Trip: The Pleasure Beach is a cashless attraction with all shops and restaurants accepting credit or debit cards only however as most of our pupils will not have access to a credit or debit card they will be able to upload cash onto a pre-paid ‘Pleasure Beach Card’ which they can then use in all food outlets across the park - apart from Burger King! Pupils will be given details of where this can be obtained when they arrive at the park.

**Important Note - The Crocky Trail: Unfortunately there are no food or drink outlets at the Crocky Trail and so it is essential that children are provided with a packed lunch and drinks from home (for those pupils entitled to free school meals a packed lunch will be provided by school if requested).

Digital Learning @ Home

Digital Learning from Home: Some of our pupils have opted to work from home on this day to access the ‘Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award’, known as iDEA, which is an international award-winning programme that helps pupils develop and demonstrate their digital, enterprise and employability skills.

Through a series of online challenges, they can win career-enhancing badges, unlock new opportunities and, ultimately, gain industry-recognised awards that help them stand out from the crowd.

Pupils will receive an email from school with their log-in details to access this learning module.

Hyde Days In

The theme for our drop down days this year is ‘Mental Health & Wellbeing’ with a focus on Personal Challenge and Awareness; Resilience; Choices & Consequences and Respect.

We have workshops which we hope will encourage participation, personal challenge and awareness of others. Each year group will be split into 5 groups and year 7, 8 and 9 will follow a schedule of five different sessions. Year 10 will have a double session where they will complete part of a computing qualification and three other one hour sessions. All pupils and school staff have been assigned to a group in school and they will follow a timetable of 5 sessions over the course of the day.

Our fabulous catering team will provide the usual fayre at break but lunchtime will be a little different to say the least!! We are planning (weather permitting) a BBQ outside with burgers, hotdogs and veggie options – we will also provide sandwiches and paninis inside for those who do not wish to partake in the BBQ. There will be two ice cream vans – always very popular – and pupils are advised to bring some cash if they would like to treat themselves. We have music outside – always great fun, especially when the staff demonstrate their moves!!

Sun Safety

Both days are non-uniform days but pupils are encouraged to wear comfortable, sensible sportswear as there will be physical activities for all age groups throughout the day. Please ensure that your child’s clothing is suitable for their activity and that sun cream or waterproofs are provided as appropriate.
